The States of Matter

Aim:to change the states of water from solid to liquid to gas

Hypothesis: I think that the ice will melt to water for 2 mins

Equipment:

1.Beaker

2. ice

3. Thermometer

 4. Bunsen burner

Method

1. Ice is placed in the beaker on the bench. Record the Temperature

2.Once the ice has thawed, the Bunsen burner is set up with the tripod, gauze mat heatproof mat and the beaker.

3. The Bunsen burner is lit.

4. The thermometer is placed in the beaker of water

5.The findings are recorded on the chart.

Findings:

Time

Temperature

Gas steam

x

100

water

1:30

100

Ice

14:00 mins

0

The ice was 0 degrees and it took 1:30 mins to thaw.
The water when it had thawed was 100 degrees Celsius and took 14:00 mins to thaw.
The water boiling point was  100 degrees Celsius and took 1:20 to hit the 100.

Behaviour Expectation for Science.

 Behaviour Expectation for Science.

1. Come inside the classroom quietly

2. Never eat and drink in a science laboratory

3.Bags are to be stored under your table, so then no one will trip over your bag and fall.

4.  Come into the classroom and show the teacher you are ready to learn by getting your Chromebook out and sitting quietly.

5.Line up outside the classroom.

6. Always wear safety glasses when you are doing an experiment

Samoa

Samoa,

Samoan traditional dances are really important. There are heaps of traditional samoan dances. LIke a sasa, siva afi, siva tau and taulaga and more.  Traditional samoan dances have poetry of people.People come from places to custom the dances.

The dances actually tell a story of cultural values and the dancers perform at events.

When you are dancing you have to be graceful and exuberant and peaceful in the oldest culture in polynesians.

The female tattoo is called a malu. When you are 21 you get  a malu. When you get a malu you finally become a woman. You have to be respectful, trustful. The pe’a and malu is viewed with cultural pride and identity as well as a hallmark of manhood and womanhood. The pe’a is designed for men that spans from waist to knee. Each tattoo tells its own story and being able to say what it represents. It basically shows your admiration and appreciation for polynesian art culture. When you're getting a malu it will cover up 65% of your legs. It basically covers your whole thighs until it reaches from the back to the front of your knee. It takes upto 3 months to finish your tattoos.

Samoan foods are DELICIOUS. They have all kinds of foods. My favourite samoan foods are povi masima(Corn Beef), sapasui(chop suey) mamoe with rice(lamb).  Samoan food is sometimes heavily spiced but normally it is characterized by the use of coconut milk and cream.  All islanders love their food, especially samoan. Samoa’s foods are the same as Tongan food, but they name it a different way.

Gravity

Talofa welcome back to my blog. Today we have been learning about gravity.

Today we watched the video on how high you can jump on each planet. This week we are doing a egg drop test. Mr Reizinger told us we have to make sure our egg does not crack when we drop it.  We have also have some questions to answer.

Jupiter is the most biggest planet.

How is gravity related to mass?

a bigger planet with have stronger gravity.

Say you will weigh 30 and you went to jupiter, you would weigh 70.2. Because so much weight is on you.

How would your life be if you lived on a higher gravity or lower gravity?

if i lived on higher gravity you wouldn't be able to walk to school or anywhere. You would be flying everywhere.

If i lived on lower gravity it would be much easier for you to walk anywhere.

Hope you guys enjoyed my blog. See you guys next time.

Niean and Tokelau Language Week

Fakalofa Atu welcome back to my blog. This week is Niean and Tokelaun language week.

Today we have been learning about Niean and Tokelau facts. I learnt some Niean and Tokelau words.Miss Taylor set some activites for us. I did the 5 words and Phrases in Tokelau and Niean. I made a poster of the words that i learnt.

Here is my Poster

Science Navigtion in Space

Talofa welcome back to my blog, today in science we are learning about navigation in space.

Today Mr Reizinger showed us what the biggest thing is in the planet is and how far it is.We also have some questions to answer about navigation in space.

here are the questions.

The difference between Galaxy, Universe and the Solar  System?

1.Galaxy

The Galaxy, Universe and the Solar System has different heart of anostary.

2.Solar System

The difference is that the solar system consists a star, the sun and the objects affected by the gravity.

3. Univerese

The universe is the largest of these three concepts. All things in the universe include's galaxy and the solar system.

2.What is a star? What is a nebula?

What is a star?

a star is a shiny thing that shines at night. So when it's night you can go outside with a telescope and look at the stars shining in the sky.

What is a nebula?

A nebula is a cloud of dust and gas in space that makes stars.

3.How does a star die?t

The star dies because they exhaust nuclear fuel. Really massive stars use up there hydrogen fuel quickly.

4. Is there are up or down in space?

There is no up or down in space because it will be really confusing and it could mess with your mind.

5. How can stars be used to navigate?

Stars can be navigation for sailors because sometime sailors forget how to get back to shore,So the navigation star helps the sailor get back to shore.

Hope you enjoyed the blog. See you next time.
